Some more about the author

Apparently it’s interesting to add some information about the author on your blog. So here is mine. It is just enough to be meaningless!

I made it in the form of 50 questions. Enjoy!

1.)    Apple juice or orange juice?        — Uhh, orange?

2.)    Are you a morning or night person?        — Night.

3.)    Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods?         — It depends on how I am feeling. But I have a sweet tooth.

4.)    Are you a collector of anything?                                — Books? Origami? Clutter?

5.)    If you could have any superpower, what would it be?    — To fly. Or maybe magic?

6.)    What is usually your first thought when you wake up?   — I’m still alive!

7.)    What do you usually think about right before falling asleep?        — Sleep… darkness… mwahahaha!

8.)    What’s your favourite colour?    — Green!

9.)    Do you believe in extra-terrestrials or life on other planets?        — I don’t know. Scientifically… it’s possible, but actually I think we are alone in this universe.

10.) Do you believe in ghosts?            — I don’t know.

11.) Ever been addicted to a video/computer game? Which one(s)? — Mario Forever!

12.) Have any bad habits?     — I chew my poor bottom lip until it bleeds when concentrating. I procrastinate something horrible.

13.) Which bad habits, if any, drive you crazy?             — Smoking… excessive swearing…

14.) List 1 thing you wish you could change about yourself:                   — My shyness and retiring nature…

15.) Any tattoos or piercings?              — Ear piercings.

16.) What personality traits do you look for in a partner?        — Good listener. Self-control.

17.) Do you see yourself getting married in the next 5 years?                               — No.

18.) Are you mostly a clean or messy person?             — Messy, until I can’t stand it anymore and pull myself together and become very clean, until I spiral back down again, and start the whole thing over.

19.) Do you have a religion?                 — Yes, I am a Christian.

20.) If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?                  — Great Britain!

21.) Name 1 thing you miss about being a kid:             — No responsibilities.

22.) Name 1 thing you love about being an adult:       — Making choices for MYSELF.

23.) What’s your favourite song of the moment?       — Something That I Want – Alan Menken (Tangled soundtrack)

24.) What’s your favourite song of all time?                  — Into the West – Annie Lennox & Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings – Return of the King soundtrack)

25.) What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday night?                   — Sleeeep… Just a pity that I don’t get to do it much, and would most likely actually be on the internet.

26.) What would be your dream job?              — Philologist. No! A copy-editor/content author for a large gaming company like JaGex. No! A successful fantasy author.

27.) Ever wish you were born the opposite sex? If so, why?                 — Yes. When people judge me because I’m a girl, not because of my abilities.

28.) Name 1 thing not many people know about you:              — I’m not left-handed, I’m ambidextrous.

29.) Do you believe in the afterlife?                 — Yes.

30.) Thing you cannot leave the house without?                        — My cell phone?

31.) Favourite flower?            — Roses. Yellow ones.

35.) Do you eat fries with a fork?       — Sometimes.

36.) Do you want to get married later on in life?         — I don’t know. I don’t consider it very likely.

37.) Do you bite your nails?                  — I used to, but not anymore.

38.) Do you drink coffee?                      — Only when I’m really desperate to stay awake. And even then I can only manage to get it in if it has three sugars.

39.) What memory would call up your personal Patronus spell? (in other words, what memory is your happiest or sweetest?):                        — In general, I don’t get much excited or that super-happy either, but hearing that I got 84th place out of 5000 in a writing competition definitely sent me into a euphoria.

40.) If I Ruled the World …                    — I’d get other people to do it for me. It’ll be less work for me (more time to read) and then I would not be morally guilty for all the bad things they would be bound to get up to.

41.) If you could have been born and grown up somewhere else, where would that have been?       — Lothlorien! Okay, okay, let’s get real: Well, I suppose somewhere in Great Britain or the Netherlands, I suppose, even though I’ve never been there.

42.) If you could do one thing or grant one wish for someone else, what would it be?                              — Probably if someone I knew well was seriously ill, grant them health again. If they wanted it, of course.

43.) If you could punch any one person from any point in history, who would you pick?          — Gavrilo Princip

44.) What fictional character do you most identify with and why?                      — Oh dear, that is difficult. Tiffany Aching, maybe? Even though she is miles younger than me!

45.) True or false: pineapple on pizza is wrong.           — False. Om-nom-nom!

46.) Favourite book?               — Lord of the Rings. And yes, it is a book. It is not a trilogy.

47.) If you had the choice to live in any fictional world, as in transposed into a book/movie, which one would it be? Please explain why.
Erm, Lothlorien?
Or: Paranor or Arborlon. Or: Hogwarts.
Or… the Discworld maybe?
(This could become a long list…)

48.) Movie adaptations of books – heinous, evil and always disappointing or perfectly acceptable?    — That depends. The book is in general better than the movie, but there are exceptions.

49.) What is your biggest fear?           — Do I have to say? It’s embarrassing! Okay, I suppose it’s getting cancer or Alzheimer’s or something like that.

50.) What is your philosophy/motto in life?                  — Hmm… don’t think I’ve ever really sat and thought one up. If I could copy one now (‘cause I’m lazy)… then it would probably be the Stoics’.

Here is an image I drew with Aviary's Raven-tool.

Up to my knowledge i am saying this..please mail me if i was correct..else ignore me…

You want to share your feelings which you feel close one’s
You hate lies in nature..but, some times you lied to make others happy…( Not big lies )
You like and give importance to relationships…
You are expressive and a big thinker…

    I am just guessing..

    Finally . ” Let be friend’s ” …….

What is your biggest fear? — Alzheimer’s

But wouldn’t you not remember you have Alzheimer’s, so you can’t fear something you don’t remember having.

    • Elana

Yes. But you would know that you are diagnosed with it. You don’t just wake up one morning and cannot remember anything, not even remember that you can’t remember. It’s a very long degeneration process and to know that your condition is just going to get worse and worse up to the point where you lose your sense of self… Ugh, no. *shudders*

      • gotchanews

@ Elana, I agree with you. You would know you have it and it will hurt knowing you have it and you don’t remember who you are or your family. I knew someone with this.

      • Elana

Exactly. I couldn’t have said it better myself. :D
My grandmother had dementia, not Alzheimer’s though, and I saw what that can do to a family. Alzheimer’s is one of those illnesses that cause more pain to those around you that to you yourself.

Thanks for subscribing, by the way! ;)

      Thanks for the comment! :D
Hmm… no, I don’t think so. If I don’t have the self-control to get myself to stop staring at the screen/paper and start writing, I’ll never be creative. The two have to be in balance. ;)

      • CL

Is anything ever in balance? For me, it’s genius that draws me to write; then self control that pushes me to spend hundreds of hours and years copyediting my novel over forty times before I reach finished product; or perhaps it was pride donning a mask. Sometimes I can never be sure.

      • Elana

No, of course not! The struggle for balance is one that will never end. I know I don’t have much self-control when it comes to writing. ;)
And yeah, pride… gotta watch out for that one. For me, it is pride that keeps me returning to 750words.com to write, not inspiration, not an eagerness to write. It is also pride that fuels NaNoWriMo.

    Hi Elana,

I noticed that you’ve been using MS Paint and Inkscape for your illustrations.
    Have you tried GIMP? yet?

    It’s totally free and powerful!
    http://www.gimp.org/windows/
There’s a slight learning curve, but the time spent is well worth the investment.

I am a software developer and exclusively use GIMP for my graphics. It seems to do everything I need since every action is contained within the dropdown menu when I right-click the image. Very handy and powerful indeed!

Nice to meet you (or stumble upon you while searching Google) have a great day,

    Gregory

    • Elana

Yes! I do use GIMP quite a lot! It doesn’t work for these blog drawings though. The tools are just not what I need and neither is the layering function. I tried (and am still trying) to learn Photoshop, but it’s not working out very well. :P
      Thanks for the comment! :)

    • Elana

Hello Ravi! I’m glad you like my blog!
The only advice I have about starting to write is to sit down and actually start (time or no time). If you don’t do that, you’ll forever be saying that you mean to start, but never actually do it. Also, if you want a real, blood-and-tears writing challenge, you can sign up for something like NaNoWriMo. I’ve competed and completed it twice, so I can recommend it. :)
